When I leave work, I get on a highway, as soon as I turn on the frontage road the entrance ramp is about an 1/8 of a mile down the road. I always gun it as soon as I get on the frontage road and onto the ramp. I've notice that when my foot is on the floor, entering the ramp, my A/C blows warm air. When I let up and start cruising speed, it blows cold again.

I think that it is a GM default. My Lumina, and both of my GTP's have done the same thing when I floor it with the AC on... the blower begins blowing out of the floor, and blows warmer air until shortly after I let off the gas. unless my car was just wierd... I thought this was wierd at first, but then came to realize that it must be normal.

Would you want your AC compressor running while it is WOT?

i think that it might do it on some fords too! i know that our big f350's a/c will start to blow warm air at full throttle, but it's a diesel so maybe they are a little different than a gasser.

I'm pretty sure that almost all makes do this when you go WOT. It's been used on Chry/Plym/Dodge since at least 89. Another funny thing with Mopars from the late 80's and up, the defroster doesn't work in a/c equipped cars if the a/c isn't in working condition,

In my Prelude, when I went WOT, I'd hit the A/C button to turn off the A/C. I called it my turbo button. You could really feel the extra ponies kick in when I turned the A/C off. The Prelude was a lightweight car with a high output all aluminum motor, so you could feel every extra pony.

Hello,
I just noticed this weekend that my scanner shows the AC getting a signal to turn off at WOT. Whether this is happening or not I don't know, but, it's apparent that the AC DOES turn off at WOT according to my scanner.
Later now, Clint

I tried this on my Dodge and the A/C stayed on. They must not have performance in mind. Or the fact that there's no difference between half and full throttle could do it too.
