Interior or engine paint idea

This whole pictures taken by winter car so that's why they are little messy :p I like Daytona 500 interior look but I'm going to try make more custom paint as my body color silver. My plan is paint silver dashboard, shift area, window trim. Maybe paint where door handle? If it can remove out of door or it is stuck with whole door panel? Maybe paint bottom where shift area is sitting on top but keep leather opener alone. Too much? Maybe paint speaker as silver? Maybe paint on side with bottom doors trim? What should I paint engine for future car show? This engine is from winter beater so that's why they are very dirty. My other car clean engine is at body shop so I can't take picture of it. Any tip might be helpful. Please don't say get supercharger engine. 3100 engine is STAYING!

Can you read this? This is winter beater car. My other car engine is very clean. What is CAI? I'm thinking maybe fuse box and dog bone (if that call where it hold engine)

i would just paint the dashboard bezel, the top of the center console, and where the door handle is...the other stuff IMO would be wayyy to much silver.
CAI is a Cold Air Intake. As far as painting the stuff in the engine there is a guy on Club GP called Whitcomb who did some AMAZING work on a guys Fuse Box Cover!! I would paint the Diagonal braces and the dogbones.

Actually, FLIP will do that for me. I already ask him but I need know which WHOLE parts which will paint in together.
So far, he knew I want paint dashboard, shift area, and window trim. He ask me can do anything else for me so I'm trying thinking which one I would like have them paint.
Since I own other car so I won't worry not drive it when I strip it out.

CAI- cold air intake or get a cone that would look sharp too yea the dog bones are the middle pieces that hold the engine and the cross braces would look nice. just make sure you sand them well and prime them well. and i know this is ur winter car but getting some new silver bolts for the braces look sweeeet. thats just my 2 cents hope it helps MAC

the door handle bezel is attached to the panel it self, under the hood you can paint the normal stuff, fuse box cover, braces, dog bones, brackets and whatever else you want too, but keep the interior simple withe dash surround and shifter surround, just make sure you get the cup holder painted to match
EDIT: Another thing you could get painted are the window switch bezels (or plates whatever you want to call them) they look really nice with evrything else done

I'm not sure if it is call window trim? Daytona 500 have silver. I remember I broke my window trim and I buy it out from Ed Morad. His ebay say window trim or he got it wrong?
MAC GTP: damn that's sweet! I think I would like paint this as well too.
CAI mean black thing where air filter inside right? If so then I think paint will falling apart if I replace the filter often?
Okay, drop door handle since they are stuck.

lol Palsut....u take the stock air box out of there...take it off the hose that connects to the throttle body and then take the PCM out of the bottom and place the PCM on the part where the Air box sits on. The go to autozone(or whatever parts store) and buy a cone filter. Then put the cone filter on the hose and your good to go...you dont paint the cone filter...

hold on I'll try to find you a link, after the stock airbox is removed you can then set the PCM where the stock box used to mount and zip-tie it down or get a PCM tray from somewhere

So far as plan
paint as silver dashboard shift area with cup holder (want paint whole everything but leather opener is not match if I can't get leather paint or it can?) window trim (like Daytona 500) fuse cover diagonal braces upper motor mounts paint side with bottom door trim (I think it look sweet)
drop paint idea plan rear speaker (so they can match as door speaker) door handle since they are with door panel
I think that's all I can think about.

that's boosten's... i say an easy way to get the fuse cover lookin good is spray tire shine on it...
the things i'd paint in the engine are the dogbones, their mounts, diagonal braces, and the coolant overflow... that always looks icky... paint it black and it wont be noticeable...

the coolant bottle is just an overflow, its not that important. just put a piece of tape over the line at 'half' and another at 'full' and paint the rest whatever color you want, then take off the tape. Then just make sure their is enough coolant that it reaches that line. If you can't see the coolant at the 'half' line then add some. If it's in between full and half then its good.

If you are worried about the coolant in the "overflow container" then you have other issues. It's just for overflow. A good way to make sure you have enough coolant, is watch for the low coolant light and watch your coolant temps. If the coolant temp isn't where it usually is, then start inspecting.

the only problem is that the low coolant light comes on whenever it feels like it, and the coolant temp. gauge is a joke.
Granted, the overflow isnt that important, but it is good to keep it at the right level

I think I'm going paint coolant too. My car is fine with coolant level. I just saying what if it is leaking and I never knew I have no coolant left on bottle but I can look inside if I decide paint whole thing. Since I got my car back this morning. I looked at the doors. You know red thing on bottom door? I believe gt/gtp model have light on when it is open. I don't have light wire. It is just snap on like that. Maybe tint them? I remember I saw someone went overboard for tint whole lights thing on map lights, glove box light, doors lights and backseat lights. I'm not sure this forum or clubgp either Anyway, I'm doing for doors only.

Right now, in my mind if I remember correct. After August 16th for Greater Ohio Grand Prix club done then I will strip it out and send it to FLIP for paint it for me.
Interior: 1. Dashboard 2. all Shift area 3. window & lock trim (see this picture above or Daytona 500 have one too) 4. paint that part under steer wheel 5. paint the door trim where hood open to rear door where seat belt is. (If I can remove them) If not work then cancel that.
Engine: 1. coolant 2. engine mount 3. cross brace 4. fuse cover 5. strut tower 6. maybe engine head (seem lot of work to remove them for paint.. maybe not worth it)

why would you paint your coolant resevoir? what are you talking about strut tower? you dont have the GMPP handling kit do you?
Thats alot of silver on the interior IMO, especially if your going to paint under the steering wheel....

^^^X2
I've contemplated painting my overflow bottle, I was gonna use a piece of fine line tape and run it up the side toward an edge so it kind of hides it but you can still see, you could try that
But man, painting the thresh-hold for the doors, the under-dash panel, and the whole center console is just over doing it IMHO

ya palsut the only way you can paint a STB is if you actually purchase one because our cars do not come stock with a Strut Tower Brace. thats cool that you like silver but i think that might be a weeee little too much silver....haha

yeah but you have to drill for STB? I hate drill on my baby car. Once, when I took my car to body shop for sd wing. There is other hole that need to drill it. I won't give 2 bolts to them so they can't drill it but son of bitch drill my trunk lid and have other 2 bolts. They better be glad they did damn good job before I kick their ass if they f**cked up. Yes, I dropped door trim.

Auto-x is basically taking your vehicle, and driving on a road course, around cones, to get the fastest time possible. My buddies 450+hp buick regal, local club member, doing auto x. He has a suction camera he can mount outside or inside the car. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/450whp-Buick-Regal_161885.htm

nice vid...
just wondering... when doing something like that would staying on the gas while braking be something better to do? i mean you'd run through the brakes a lot faster but you'd be closer to the power band making it faster?

Sorry palsut, here is the link http://www.drcustomparts.com/ If you decide to get STB's get them from paceperformance.com, or better yet, a dealer, The onlys i got from GMPartsdirect. took 18 days from order to delivery and all they did was tape them together so of course they were dented and scratched up

I bring it back from dead. :p I finally found this guy who willing paint for me today. He painted someone's car that are from galaxy silver. His work I saved that picture when I start this thread. I have no idea he is from my local area. That's sweet. Also other local guy who is part his cars out. He has 4 doors leather seat are good shape. Also 4 door panels too. I'm not sure if I'm going for it. My car have cloth seat. I'm waiting for his email for pictures. I hope it is good then it should be good upgrade for "car show". We will see. Alright my paint plan list Interior: pretty much same as this guy work from picture above What is about my create idea from 2 red arrow. Sound good? What is about top of dash board near red alarm light? I got it free from junk yard. Engine paint plan (galaxy silver) brace with black bolts (green circle) stb with don rome bracket with black (will order one) dog bone with black bolt (green circle) Sound good? What do you think for paint oil, steering wheel, tranmission caps and oil dipstick? All red circles. Engine coolant... still undecide lol plan: order cai (next year) middle of work fuse cover ---- it was flame silver with arrowhead by other member at clubgp.com Hey 01 GT any update about that? I spoke him last time I spoke to you about that. It is now like 3 weeks ago.

palsut, dont paint the coolant resevoir(because you wont be able to tell if you are low or not. and i thought we discussed it earlier that if you paint under the steering wheel, that it will be too much silver in the car. When painting the inside of a car you want to keep it subtle(minimum), because otherwise it will look weird!
I sent him an email a couple days ago demanding that i want the fuse box covers finished because this is ridiculous that it is going on 2 months since we sent them to him! He has failed to respond to me. If i dont get a response within a week i will post negative feedback about him on clubgp! This has become VERY irritating!

Yeah. I get some mixed feeling about engine coolant. I think I will leave it alone. Right... I read it again. I forgot about that since it is old thread. I guess 2 red arrows interior picture is drop unless some of you think it is neat or ugly. Yeah, it is getting too darn long. If he f**k me off then I would get this fuse cover paint galaxy silver. His work is pretty sweet for flame with arrowhead but 2 months is ridiculous. *edit* my cloth seat. It is dark outside right now. I don't have best picture but this one is good for tonight. Cloth or Leather? damn tough choice oh about paint top of dashboard where alarm light is. Paint silver or leave it alone?

kinda late posting here but ..
Palsut, search for my thread with pics of interior painting .. its a really easy do it yourself project took me a few hours .. turned out good! Also, like everyone has been saying .. keep it subtle AKA minimum because too much will look tacky!!!
Good luck and I bet whatever you do will look nice, besides, its your car!

Should gone with red look like other member did. If your car is white then it should be look good. That's your car. You can do whatever you feel like to I could take 2 knobs out of junk yard. I went junk yard yesterday. Last summer, I found 7 cars. Now, it is gone and crushed. I was supposed to get rail support (hold side skirt) that I removed door molding & side skirt from silver car like 2 month ago. damn I wait too long... Maybe next year if I can find more gp. 01GTshaner: Yes, I saw your thread about spray can. It is neat but I'm actually looking for real paint to match my car color. This guy can done that to other person same color car. He is willing do that for me. That's nice of him.
