no, not all ballasts have two 'nubs' protruding from both sides, it just makes them confusing.

Yes, they will only WORK one way, but the plug looks like it could be plugged in both ways.

first of all it was being plugged into the right spot Zafrin just backwards meaning the ground and the power so a.)I know exaclty what I was doing being ive done HID 3 times b.)no damage would happen especially not a fire from headlight wiring temporarily given power and then shut off c.) thank you hutch doesnt it seem like it would clip the the other side of that balast plug with the bigger notch instead of that tiny one

lol, you say that nothing would happen, but thats exactly the kind of mistake that can cause problems. I doubt these chinese ballasts were designed with safety in mind. You know nothing about the internals of these ballasts, so making the assertion that no damage would occur is your opinion. In fact, reverse biasing can cause damage. Think electrolytic capacitors, if you know electronics.

I do agree, though, that the bigger tab SEEMS like the intuitive place for the clip to go (I have the same ballasts, but my kit came with instructions. :p Albeit badly translated ones.

i guess it could have melted the internals but prob not a fire.....yes a fire will keep you warm haha but i would think of it more like new blown engine maybe?

+1, HID ballasts actually draw less power than halogen bulbs when running and most have a peak surge of under 5 amps when starting up.

You should run the power leads directly to + and - and verify that your ballasts actually work. if you wire ballasts backwards they fry.
