I've been out of the loop for a while but this really caught my attention. I'm on a road trip from Oklahoma to Montana and I hit a deer on the front drivers side. Busted up the headlight bent the front end of the hood under but only slightly and broke some of the bumper and cowl bracketing. For some strange reason I've gone from getting 26 mpg on the highway to actually getting 41 mpg!!!! I'm not kidding! The DIC and the math both agree. I'm thinking it's because of the 'redneck' style air ram I've got right now since I'm blowing alot of unrestricted air at/into the breather box.... Any thoughts or has anyone else experienced anything like this? Anyway I can keep the milage after I do the repairs????
TIA

I wouldn't go by the DIC. If you actually calculate your total miles by how much you put in at the pump (fill till the tank is full) and divide gals into that trip then you will see. 41.5 is really high, but strange things happen I guess.

Yup, I wouldn't want my GP sportin' any "custom bodywork by Bambi" either.. wink Thankfully the deer whistles I installed seem to work, so far.

The deer whistles are a hoax. They don't work. I read an article where they tested all the different models both on vehicles and in a controlled enviroment and the whistles had no effect on any of the animals.

Hmm, interesting. They always seem to either raise their head, or veer away when I pass by on the parkway. Maybe they're just afraid of black cars.. darthvader As long as they don't decide to offer their services as a hood ornament, I'm happy! wink

It cracked out the glass on the light, but the light is still in place and blocking the intake tube just like a regular light. But there is alot of open space areound the lamp that air just pours into when you're going 80 mph.

Hmmm,... increase air intake. There's the answer. NOT hitting a deer. I've drilled holes in my intake box (on the outer edge) and I have improved to 37MPH,(Highway) using a K&N air filter as well.

I don't even get 41 on my bike. Maybe I'll try hitting a deer.
