Does anyone know the sequence to torque the heads and intake? I see the specs on Herc's site. Autozone does not have a haynes manual for the car, so im not able to look it up and cant find it online anywhere.

Also, just out of curriousity, i've never timed an engine that is ALL computer controlled, lol... How do i set the timing back when i goto start it up, or does the computer already know what to fire cuz of the Crank and cam shaft position sensors? I have not taken apart the timing gears or anything, decided to stay stock cam for alil while longer to save some money, but will be doing that in the near future... all i've done is turn the crank with the heads off to inspect the cylinder walls.

motor alldata .... look it up on google or something. but that is a huge libary of automotive information you can look up torque specs and about everything else on the site. but the one down fall is that is costs money. but i dont think that it is too exspensive.

As for the timing

You'll have to ensure that cylinder #1 is top dead center and your cam corresponds.

Not sure for the distributor less ignition systems but the timing on my truck you needed a program to synch both the cam sensor and the crank sensor.

Head down to your library and see if they have any repair manuals for the W bodys. Just as important as torque sequencing is torque stepping. If there is a requirement follow it as well.

Another thought any car with the same year motor will have the specs your looking for.

Looking at the head, bolts are:

-Tighten in sequence to 37ft-lb.
-Using angle torque meter, rotate additional 130 degrees.

Be sure to use new head bolts. They stretch during install and will not re-torque properly. If you're looking for a reusable head-mounting method, go with head studs.

Drawings for torque sequence of intakes in my Chilton book suck. Without seeing the intake, I can't really draw a pic like the other one. AutoZone usually has the head/intake torque specs on file. Just drive in and ask, if they do request a print-out. Otherwise, just buy a Haynes/Chilton book, pay for AllData, borrow someone elses, or break down and buy the factory manual.

BTW, who sales the factory service manuals for a decent price (other than ebay)? I really need a set.

Looking at the intake, bolts are:

11--------1------------3-------------10


5---------------------------------8

12--------4------------------2----------9 TH

Five and Seven are the bolts hidden by the upper plenum; use threadlock compound on these. Tighten in sequence to 11 ft. lbs. cheers
