Hi all

It is about the time to dump old nasty BadYears (37k).

Since I have dedicated winter tires I do not need all-season, and I want to get
good performance summer tire. My budget is about $80 - $130 per tire.

(factory recommended size 225x60x16)

Which one would you recommend me ?

My current thought is Bridgestone RE730, but everybody complains that they are
incredibly noisy after 5k.

Also - tire choice will be better if I will take 245x50x16 size into consideration.
Anybody tried it ? What are pros and cons ?

The Bridgestone Potenzas are awesome. The might be a little loud at low speeds with the windows rolled down and no radio on, but you can hardly notice it. They look very aggressive, and they are awesome at the track. Highly Recommended by me. thumbsup

I put the RE730's on my wife's old car (Mitsu Eclipse GS-T) and they are VERY NOISY. They grip great, but the noise is unbearable. I will be putting Toyos on her new car when the tires wear down.

Toyo Proxes T1-S (I run them on the C5 and they are incredible in wet and dry).

I had the RE-730s in 255/45zr17 and didnt think they were all that noisy. Maybe its the size. Another good choice is the Falken ZIEX 502. I had them in 245/50zr16 and they are almost a twin to the RE-730.

I also used to have the Falken Ziex ZE-502. They are a decent tire for the price. They look a lot like the RE730's but they are not quite as good. But for the money the are worth it. I'm pretty sure they are under $100 a piece. I think they are rated for all-season too, but I wouldn't go around driving through snow with 'em.

I do not go to track, but I do appreciate good braking/acceleration tire
abilities and I would like to have something that handles better that BadYears
I have now.

I love my firestones (same company as bridgestones) I have stock size Firestone SH30. I have heard others really like SZ50's, but being the higher speed rating I am sure they are more expensive. I really really reccomend the SH30's, they are am awesome wet traction tire.

When I was looking for tires, I checked out this page:

or

www.carreview.com and check reviews for tires.

also, if you check out the bridgestone RE730's quite a few of them say there is too much road noise. (Just like some have said here)

If your looking for quiet comfortable that can still perform go with the Potenza RE950, they are sweet, although only H-rated. Since you already have Winter tires you may want something Z-rated like the RE730 or whatever. It depends alot on how you drive and how long you want it to last.

Don't use Yokohama if you want a quiet tire!!

My vote is still for the RE730's. Trust me, the tire noise is not that bad... devilsmile

I concur. Z rated tires are going to have some noise. They arent touring tires.

I never said they Didn't have noise, I just said it wasn't that bad. The only time I really notice it at all is when I'm slowing down or going real slow. Other than that I personally don't think its that bad. The Potenza RE950 is also a great tire. Its more all-season and its H-rated, but still a decent tire. square
