from what i understand the 6x9's only produce low notes and the 4" speakers produce the mids and highs correct? i just put in a couple 3-way infinity 6x9's and i beleive i am just getting bass from them. if i removed the 4" speakers and hooked those wires up to the infinity's ALSO i should get all notes correct? anyone done this? just trying to put quality speakers to good use.

The bass all comes from my rear 6x9's. If you turn the fade way up, it sounds treble-ish...

If you replace the rear speakers with after market ones you will get a much cleaner sound out of the back, but not as much bass. I replaced mine with some Sonys thinking that I might get some more bass, but I got much less and it sounded really good, as far as treble goes. Then I took 'em back and put a 12 in the trunk and now I get a headache if I listen to the right music. crazy

You're right in that they are crossed for different frequencies, but honestly I'm not sure how to get the full sound to one speaker. I don't think combining the two outputs would be a good idea, though.

if you connect both sets of wires your amp will not know what to do because it will see a short in the speaker, if you are brave , cut the wires from the mid/high portion of the 6X9 and connect that to your other connection.
