Okay I was driving to oklahoma City today, about 30 miles from my hometown and on my way back home my car started acting wierd. When I was driving it was fine, but everytime I came to a stop light and had it at idel it would shake pretty bad, and when I got going again it would be fine. About half way home I got a check engine light so I stopped off in another town that I was currently in and went by autozone to have it checked out. It turns out I threw two codes.

1.) PO202: The PCM has determined that a malfunction exists in the electrical circuit for cylinder #2 fuel injector.

Would this mean I need to replace my fuel injector, or does it need to be cleaned out? I though I read a thread on someone with a similar problem a few months ago, but I can't find the thread. As for the second code.

2.)P0302: The PCM has determined that a misfire occured in cylinder #2.

Would this be because of the faulty fuel injector or could it be an issue with my spark plugs of something of that sort. Anyways, not much a mechanical whizz kid so any help would be appreciated. Don't really want to shell out the remainder of my student loan to a mechanic if it's somthing I can get fixed myself.

PO202: Could be a bad injector, injector wiring harness problem, or a problem in the PCM. You can use a Noid Light Kit to check the wiring and PCM. The PO302 could be a false code due to the injector not working, or a separate problem with that cylinder.

I would think that its throwing two codes for the injector problem. Sounds like you might need a new injector, but someone else should chime in to make sure.

The misfire was probably caused by the injector.

Yes, a bad injector could cause a lean condition, and if there isn't enough fuel to burn, it'll misfire.

One way to test the injector is to move the injector to another cylinder, clear codes, and then run the car to see if the codes follow the injector.

You might also be able to read the resistance on that injector and see if it's within spec.
