Hello,

I replaced my ACC belt at 37K, and it was showing signs of wear....
It's very possible the belt needs replacing, and, just FYI, your warranty most likely won't cover it...Belts are maintainence parts...Just like tires, and wipers, and oil.
The belts cost about 20-30 bucks, and they are easy to change...I'm sure if you ask around you will find someone that can help you. It takes about 10 minutes....It would only take 5 if you didn't have to stop and look at the diagram to figure out the route to take.... wink

Later now,
Clint

Is there a way I could verify that the belt is "showing signs of wear" asides from the noises?

I notice it is loud when I start up and when I go in reverse there is a grinding type sound..after about 5 minutes it is quieter...

also i notice the car is lacking power.. I either have to stay at 2 rpms or floor it to go.

Glossy spots is signs of slippage. Cracks in the ribbing is from age. A couple of cracks no worries if there are alot of cracks then it needs to be changed.

If there's any cracks in it at all, it won't hurt to replace it; it'll need it soon anyways. Drive belt replacment is so easy on these, you might as well just do it. Get a Goodyear Gatorback belt; they're much better than the rib style OEM ones in terms of longevity.

Hello,

Grinding and lack of power have nothing to do with belt slippage.
You may have a belt slipping, but, it sounds like you have other issues.
If a belt is slipping, it usually has a high pitch whistle, or squeal, pending on how bad it's slipping, how bad the sound is.
You may have tranny issues if you hear those noises. If you're having to go 1/4 throttle just to get through an intersection, I'd have the tranny checked.
Check your dipstick. If the fluid is low, top it off, and see if that cures the problem..... If the fluid is brown, or black, you need to stop driving it, and have it serviced.

Later now,
Clint
