Hi everybody,

Somebody told me that newer dodge neon springs (2001-2005) would fit GP's is this true?
It would be very helpful since here in Mexico there are not easy to find GP springs and they are very expensive.

Alex

One way would be to do a part number search through eibach and see if they use the same springs for both cars. If they fit they probably won't be of the correct spring rate. The Neon is a bit lighter then the GP. Iirc springs from the olds Aurora are compatable.

From Eibach:
Part #'s for lowering springs
2003 Neon- 2820.140
1998 Grand Prix- 3865.140

Not the same...

The Neon springs would be a bad idea even if they fit ,the neon being a much lighter car would have too weak a spring for a heavier GP,are you looking for a stock ride height or a lowered ride? You can for a 2" drop cut the stock springs one complete turn while not ideal when parts are not available you must be inventive.Chico(pops)

Thanks Chico,

I've post about cutting springs, all i need is 1" lower, but everybody looks scared when talking about cutting my springs, is this a real threat for the suspension? just an inch.

The problem with cutting is if you use a torch you'll change the temper of the steel. Which will weaken it and the spring could possibly break.

If you want to cut the springs use some kind of blade with lots of cutting fluid to keep things cool.
