I walked out to my car tonight, and my car does not start, and key gets locked in the ignition. I follow the manual procedure of shift lock release override, and get it out after a long time.

Now putting the key in goes about 3/4 the way then is difficult to get in all the way. After that the key can turn but absolutely nothing happens...appears the electrical is disabled.

I just had the car out a few hours ago working fine, and had the oil changed yesterday...

I am thinking maybe a fuse? I am not sure what to do now and would rather try to fix myself wink

Thanks in advance!

I just checked all the fuses, so it's not that...I think it is a problem with the pass III key or security system.

I tried jumping the car, all the dash lights will stay on and the security light will blink. When I remove the power from the other car, everything will go off and back to where I am at the last post...

Sounds like ignition switch to me. Have you tried your spare key?

I think you have the wrong key.

Either that or you have to get your key reprogrammed. I had a similar problem on my old GP and it turned out I was just using the wrong key. Check into that.

When you turn the key into the run position, do all the interior lights come on? Will the radio/windows/lights power on?

When you turn the key to start do you hear any clicking, or any attempt by the engine to turn over?

If both of these occur for you I would strongly lean towards changing the ignition switch. I had both symptoms and changing the switch cured mine.

I had the car towed to a dealer free on insurance.
Turned out there was some cable problems to the battery and they needed to be replaced...so I hope that really was the case. Only put me out 90 bucks so not horrible.

Thanks for your help!
