I just bought my 97' gtp, the previous owner changed the pulley, mad to of course increase power, but he did not change anything else. After spending a lot of time on the site finding out about my new car and what goodies i can do, i found that changing the pulley without any other mods is a bad move. As far as what I know changing the PCM is critical, any suggestions...
p.s i am a # 1 newbie, I read the PCM is the brains of the car, but which do you recommend and what do I need to change it.....

I'd start off with a u-bend delete at the very least. A down pipe would peform that function well and free up the exhaust a little more than just the u-bend delete.

From there I'd look into a cold air intake and a pcm. If you know or can find someone close with a PowrTuner, you could see if they'd be willing to help you tune the car instead of buying an off the shelf pcm.

No I really dont know anyone with a powertuner.. so I guess an off the shelf DH or ZZP PCM...
does anyone have a link to changing your PCM.

So then the pulley change isnt a big deal without doing any other mods??

If it's just a 3.4" pulley you can probably limp around..just don't hammer the gas to get into the boost. You don't really know unless you scan it.

Personally, I'd start with the ubend delete (as mentioned). If you can afford to do the downpipe and ubend delete all at the same time, it will save you money in the long run, and it just bolts up.

After that, definitely the CAI, but you should also do the little, easy stuff: plugs and tstat. Have an extra set of plug wires available in case you ruin the stock ones.

After all that is done, then I'd get a PCM. The reason I'd do it in this order is because the plugs and tstat are cheap and easy to install. If you can't afford to do it all at once, I'd put those in before the PCM.

Yeah, I would get the 3" bolt in downpipe with hi flow cat if I were you

Like UMfan said, colder spark plugs and a thermostat will help too

you will probably need both of the DP gaskets

go with a 3" bolt in. Cat or no cat is up to you
