Hey...I am new to the fourms because I am having a couple issues and was just wondering your opinion. I have a 97 Grand Prix SE 3.8L completely stock. Its just a get me to work and back vehicle, but works very well.

One problem I have been having lately is it will completly shut off every once in a while. When it stalls, I notice it is usually when I am slowing down but has done it before at random driving. It is always at slower speeds. Nothing electrical shuts off at all. The car starts back up with no issues. In the fall of last year is when it started. It then went most of the winter without stalling, then in the couple months has stalled probably 10 times. I had a bad alternator and changed that, as well as put a new fuel filter on it. It still stalls once in a while. It does have a weak battery in it as well which will get me through the summer, but will change for the winter.

Any ideas at all?

I'd replace the battery first, have it scanned for codes, change your spark plugs, clean your air filter, clean your MAF sensor, all that type of easy/cheap stuff.

X2! Just my opinion, but I'd replace that weak battery soon; it could give you starting problems when hot, or damage the alternator you just replaced.

Check under the battery bolts; corrosion loves to hide under there! A weak battery can cause all kinds of drivability problems. Good Luck! cheers
