Ok guys I am entertaining the idea of building an intake and just wondered what size tubing I should use for a NA 3800? I was thinking of using 3 inch but saw a post over on ClubGP that gave the impression that 3 inch is to small and I should use 4 inch. What size tubing do you guys recommend? I currently have no other mods and don't plan on doing much maybe do some exhaust mods this summer but that will be about it.

Since you're strapped on cash, try this
http://www.grandprix.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=004538;p=0&r=nfx
I built mine for under $50, some 3" pipe, a 22 1/2* street elbow, a 3" rubber coupler and a plastic/rubber vent stack flash (same as the one used here http://www.clubgp.com/newforum/tm.asp?m=...language=single )for your roof from the hardware store. The K&N was right at $30. I didn't even have to move the coolant tank. cheers

White GT, I just got all my parts together for a CAI.

Get a 3" 45* Street elbow, a 3" coupler, a 1/2" rubber grommet and a K&N cone filter with a 4" flange and you are set.

I believe those parts cost me about $15 at home Depot, and the filter was like $45.

97 that is exactly what I am planning! I saw that intercooled intake on ClubGP and thoguht the roof vent thing would work perfectly, the only problem I am having is finding a 22.5* street fitting in ABS, other than that I can get everything here in town, I'll check some more places later on this week and will probably be getting this thing set up next weekend. Did you guys notice an improvement in gas milage at all? I am just wondering because I have an hour drive to school and would like a little better milage, of course the Grand Prix replaced my 3.4 DOHC Monte that I wrecked so it has to get better milage than that thing!

If you can't find it in ABS, go the pvc route until you can. Mine is PVC, since I can't find ABS in Texas, with no ill effects so far. Hercman's is PVC also and he said he hasn't had any problems. Be prepared to hear that thing huffing!

I didn't get a full tank thhrough it before the PCM and when I realized that my tires were all at 25psi. banghead Since then, I have noticed about +2mpg. A LOT of that probably came from the correct psi in the tires.

I am mainly doing this for the improved breathing that factory setup sucks, or in this case doesn't suck very good. The throttle response and a little more power is my main goal but if the gas milage goes up as well I'm not going to complain.
