Ok so I have a wild hair up my butt to get out there this weekend and go over my car with a buffer and rubbing compound/wax. This is the first time ever doing it to this car and I'm wanting to make her shine! What brand would you guys recommend? Preferably something I can buy at an Auto Zone, Checker, etc...

clay, buff, wax. AND DO YOUR TIRES FIRST!!!

if you put a few hours into waxing and then you spray somthing on your tires it will get on paint, no matter how good u think ur aim.

Sorry bugs the crap out of me.

Take your time.

i'd suggust getting some 1500-2000 grit sandpaper...a paint stick...and spend a day or two wet sanding the crap outa your car...then buff and wax it...then step back and look at the mirror/PERFECT finish you gave yourself...but that'd hafta be a HUGE hair up your butt to do that...good luck tho! cheers

That would be one heck of an undertaking. Probably looks great, but thats a ton of time and work.

I've been a long time Meguiar's user and I'd suggest going with all Meguiar's products. I've been using them for a LONG time (I just won the April grand prize on their forum)

The other guys are right about getting what you pay for. Do NOT skimp on your products!

If you have a D/A polisher, something along the lines of the Porter Cable 7424, you'll save yourself a lot of time cleaning and detailing your car.

Here's what I'm going to do to mine when I get all the products in from Meguiar's.
1. Wash the car using the two bucket method.
2. Clay bar
3. Polish to get rid of the spider web/ swirls out of the paint
4. Top it off with two coats of quality wax.

You won't believe all the contaminants that will come off your car with using the clay bar!

I can't wait to see what it looks like using the 'good' stuff from Meguiar's. hammer

Why not use a gel type tire shine with a proper applicator. I love using the Meguiars Endurance...it holds up for a long time and you never get excess on the rim/paint.
