I just bought an 02 GP SE yesterday, and I ran across these forums, and I really like the information I see smile Any suggestions for a new GP owner? I'm not looking to try to blow any doors off on the track, but I'd like to get a bit more performance out of the car smile I've read a bit about the Flowmaster Super 40 Mufflers, does anybody have a sound byte of the tone of these?

Sorry, should work now. For some reason it didn't copy/paste correctly.

Your not going to be able to get any noticable gains out of swapping mufflers. You could by an intake, most of us have built one, which would make a little difference. Do you have the 3.8L or the 3.1L?

Welcome!

All SE's 2001 and after came with the 3.1.

The 3.8 stopped being an option in the middle of 2000.

Actually, I think 98 was the last year. I also don't recall any 3.8 SEs with normal noses.

Every site I just looked at and have looked at before always listed it as an option up until 2000.

Edit: Here's an 00 with a 3.8 AND a catfish front on AutoTrader.

If you want a sound upgrade I would suggest replacing the muffler with a glasspack. If you want a daily driver with more kick get a CAI/FWI your chice, PCM, and U-Bend delete.
Enjoy the GP and let the good times roll LOL.

Awesome, thanks for that video smile I have the 3.1 I wasn't expecting to gain performance from some mufflers, I just wanted a better sound :p My SE only has a single exhaust, anybody have a pic of the underside of a GT/GTP so I can see how they run the dual tailpipes? Who sells a CAI for this car, I haven't been able to find one. Guess I can always resort to ebay click and pray methods.

No one makes an intake for the 3.1. The distance from the throttle body to the fender is different, so a 3.8 won't work without modification.

The only difference in the exhaust is after the fuel tank, a Y is welded in that crosses over to the other side. All you need is some driver side exhaust hangers and you can bolt a GT catback no problem.

Yep, just splits, like this. This is my old 97 GT, but it'll be the same on any GT/P.

Ah, sounds simple enough. smile Thanks for the info. Is there a short ram intake or anything available for the 3.1 other than a CAI, or no aftermarket intakes at all? =(
