Just thought I'd let you know that my local Pontiac dealer charged me $52 for a new keyless remote plus another $30 to program it, when I bought it a year ago(wish I could make $30 for less than 5 minutes 'work'). This was for a 2000 GP GT. I totalled that car out a couple months ago, and still have that remote laying around- I don't know if it would be compatible w/ a '97 or not, but if you find that it is, email me at jmus57@yahoo.com and I'll make ya a deal. Later devilsmile

I've got a 2003 GP GT and one of my remotes stopped working.. I changed the battery but no difference.. I wanna try reprogramming it but I'm stuck at the step of turning the ignition to ACC without the key in there.. Mine won't budge.. AT ALL..

any help?

Thanks
Travis

for $300, go with an aftermarket alarm instead!

I have a 2002 GP and when i bought it it only came with keys, no remotes (Not from dealership). Are all 02 GPs equipped with keyless entry and if not how can i find out? Don't you have to have it equipped with keyless entry in order to program a remote?

Look on the inside of the trunklid for a Service Parts Identification Label. It has a list of RPO (Regular Production Option) codes. You can decode them here: RPO Decoder

For example, the codes for a '98 are:
AU0 Lock Control, Remote Entry
A90 Lock Control, Rear Compartment Lid
Remote Control Electric Release
UA6 Theft Deterrent System
