I have the 245/45/18s on my car w/1in lowering springs and even though its close, I think you could get away with another 5mm on either side...the strut clearance would be close to be sure and you would be right at the fenderline on the outside (my wheels are 38mm offset)

I have considered that package from AFS on more than one occasion...its a good buy for a full set of wheels and tires, ready to bolt on the car.

I bought my chrome Bullitts from AFS and got my tires locally...when I was looking to buy they never seemed to offer the combo I needed so I opted for the wheels alone...no whining, it was just a timing thing. (or my impatience...bloody mod bug!)

I've considered swapping down to 17s...(72Chevymans ride looks great with his Bullitts)...I think it would ride better and there would be a greater availability of tires to pick from.

Tbat has also talked about going down to 17s because of the stiffining of the suspension with the loss of sidewall.

we cant answer all this stuff. its what you want. smaller wheels can fit a bigger tire, which is gonna ride better. bigger wheels=smaller tire=worse ride.

You have to decide what matters most

i guess im not as picky as everybody else but with my 20's i didnt really notice that much harsher of a ride than with my regular stock 16's, now im sure if i went to 18's the difference will be even more minimal, i thought it drove better because of the better handling (wider=better) but i dont know if it's that big of a difference

like when i first started asking about getting 20's, i almost crapped my pants in fear of having this really harsh ride, but it was almost unnoticeable... plus the 20's look better IMHO wink

01 GT, as a prior Wisconsin resident I know the inportance of snow traction. Do a search on tirerack of teh cost of all season performance tires in the sizes you are considering. The price difference in quality tires will most likely astound you. My 17s make my stock front brakes look so small. I can't imagine how 18s would look. I need to do the Monte rotor swap. My car has 235/55/17 tires and I have had nothing but praise from all my car buddies. Even a few new Mustang owners I work with finally noticed after I parked by them for a few days, that my wheels were the same as his. Although I covered the blue oval. For what it is worth, I am impressed by the Perilli tire sthat came on these wheels in the ice and light snow we have had so far, no rain yet, and I don't drive this car that hard to comment on serious cornering, but I am 100% sure it would do OK, since these Z rated tires went on a heavier car.

There is no doubt that the handling was much improved and to be honest the ride onmy car didnt get really harsh until I added the lowering springs. Even then, on the interstate or anywhere the road is relatively smooth the difference is hardly noticeable.
But when we travel north to visit relatives and you get onto roads where maint is not a priority, the ride can be teeth jarring.
I really dont have to contend with much bad weather here in VA but I still like an all-season tire...my 18s are directional tread tires and they "sing" on the interstate which I find annoying. I wont put another set of that design on there. If I have to go down to 17s to get an affordable all season tire then so be it.
I do love the look of the 18s...but thats about it. I think, as a matter of fact I know, those 17s will handle just as well. I had the pleasure of driving both AustinGTP's car while in Texas and NorthTnGuys Comp G on the trip and both cars rode and handled wonderfully.

36 is fine... mine is 35 and it just barely sticks out, it gives it a really aggressive look and i like it
