The rear view mirror on my '98 GT fell off the windshield recently due to the hot Florida sun. I'm trying to reattach the metal button to the windshield, but I can't figure out how to get the metal button out of the mirror. My GM shop manual says to pry it out with a "flat tool" and shows no pictures. I've already broken the end of a jeweler's screwdriver trying to pry it out. Has anyone done this, and if so, any words of wisdom ? Apparently they aren't using set screws in these mirrors like they used to, and the small bracket holding the metal button has such a tight tolerance, I can't even get a piece of paper in there. Thanks in advance for any suggestions...I don't want to end up breaking some other part of the mirror and have to buy a new one.
