May have to use big allen to hold it and turn the nut.

Just use vise grips on the shaft to hold and turn the nut off.

the shaft is round, so vice grips = fail

then you may need to use that allen head and wrench.

I never had this issue and my nuts were all rusty. wink

yea, the removal was pretty easy. luckily the 2 bolts at the knuckle were the same size as my socket i use for my rims. that was lucky, but other wise i had to do a few tool runs.

if it is the old strut use a air gun and angle it with the nut. like with the socket and gun straight up, pull back on the gun making an angle and wot on the gun.

if u can get the boot out of the way, vice the shaft and have it get stuck on the coil, then air gun the heck out of it.

if u think about it an air gun is good if u got the compressor. but i wouldnt buy all that if dont have any air tools/equiptment. if worst comes to it have a local shop do it or if u know some 1 that has the tools.

If your vice grips wont' hold use a small pipe wrench.

I have a small 8"er just for those type of conditions. But be prepared cause it will put teath marks into what ever your holding.

You=fail. How can you not put vice grips on it? Because it is circular? Sounds like you need to learn how to use vice grips.

An allen head will work just as well as the vice grips.

seeing how ive never been near/seen a strut.

this blows, but you NEED an extra person, theres no possible way you can see up into the trunk by yourself.

Im pretty discouraged right now, but im comin' back to it now, and ill get this SOB done, mark my words.

If you don't have someone to help you, use a floor jack under the rear spindle to help support the strut assembly. hammer

if u got tools at a shop if u work at one it's easy for one person, but it is really hard for a first timer w/out an extra hand. an easy trick for the mounting plate is to take a chizel and bang some marks in the plate and coil so if u shift the positions, u will have marks to line up to. also the plate and coil should have some paint marks to line up with.
