Stock or slotted is fine depending on what you do with your car or how you want it to look. I'd stay away from the cross-drilled rotors as they have a nasty tendency to warp and crack more easily. Chew may post a comment or two about cross-drilled rotors 'cause I know he's not a fan of them either. Unleass your talking about the high end cars that come stock with cross-drilled rotors. It's has to do with metalurgy and what happens to a slab of metal after drilling a bunch of holes into it (it weakens the metal). The high end cars can get away with it 'cause their cross-drilled rotors are cast that way (meaning they don't get drilled).

Slotted. As stated above stay away from cross drilled.

Slotted. Cross-drilled is getting to be a thing of the past; Porsche, etc. is starting to go to the slotted style, also because you loose too much rotor surface when drilled, and it weakens the metal as well. Slotted also acts as sort of a "self cleaning" system on the pads. I had talked to a Brembo brake representative a few weeks ago at a convention, and he said the only disadvantage to slotted is that you may get a sort of "hissing" sound when the brakes are applied. To most of us, I'm sure that doesn't really matter. Also keep in mind that the slotted or drilled really doesn't help your stopping distance unless you are really heating up the brakes. The holes or slots only really act as additional venting for the brake pad gasses, and then reduce brake fade. Do keep in mind, though, that some of the world's fastest race cars don't necessarily use either; just solid. It's not as much the slots or holes, but the composition of the pad and quality of the rotor.

It sounds like slotted and solid are good choices, when the brakes are heated up during the summer a better choice would be the slotted to reduce the brake fade. Comments and suggestions?

If you really want to change the rotors, then slotted would be the way to go. Remember, you have to get the brakes pretty hot on any car to get them to noticeably fade. And, if you're upgrading the size of the brakes anyway, the possibility of them fading is even less, even with solid style rotors and regular pads. The upgrade in size alone is going to do you lots more than the slotted rotors ever will, at least for even agressive street driving.

It costs the same if the rotors were slotted, cross-driled or plain in the 12" version. So why not take the advantage of size and use the cooling characteristics of the slotted..........
