i know the lug pattern of the GP's are 5x115 but i was wondering if a offset of 20 would work? and would it make it stick out of the fender wells?

From the 97-03 FAQ:

wheel lug spacing and offset

any wheel with 5x114.3 or 5x115 bolt pattern and 38-45 mm offset should work just fine for the 97-03 GPs.
