Well, the good news is that my mods (and superb driving skill :-) ) have paid off and at my last visit to the track (Infineon raceway, formerly known as Sears Point) I pulled a 14.121 in the 1320 at 97.68 MPH (RT was a pathetic .717 that I need to work on, 60' was 2.231).

1997 Grand Prix GTP
Thrasher CAI (9" K&N)
Borla cat-back exhaust
Magnuson supercharger snout with 3.4" pulley
180-degree thrmostat
Reprogrammed PCM
Transmission cooler
Taylor wires
Irridium spark plugs
100-octane fuel on race day

I wish I could get traction, then I might be able to break into the 13's. Of course, I'd need a helmet then.

The bad news is that two days ago, after 134000 miles of driving, I finally got into an accident in my baby. Some idiot decided to make a left turn out of the right lane in front of yours truly, who was in the left lane, not intending to turn at all. So here's the unfortunate result:

So now I need a hood, fender, bumper, lights, rim, and the mirror for some reason has popped half way off the door.

Hey nice time. Beats my old 97 Trans Am, which was only stock but ran mid 14's. I have a question, is your PCM from the GP store? What did you think about your new PCM?

Sorry about the accident.....I have nightmares about things like that happening. My nightmares have always consisted of someone running into, or stealing my cars......LOL, some people have nightmares about stalkers, I have nightmares about carjackers.
I hope everyone was OK.
Later now,

My PCM did indeed come from the Grand Prix store. I don't have an autotap, so I can't quote you lots of nifty numbers, but I can say that the only differences between my setup when I was running a 14.9 and now are the PCM and the 100 octane. I do think that the gas made a huge difference because before, I could actually feel the car bogging after I left the line...no such phenomenon now. Knock retard has obviously been reduced to a minimum. (I got the car down to below a quarter tank and then added 5 gallons of the good juice, so I figure I was about 60% 100 octane, 40% 91 octane). People tell me that the 3.4" pulley can actually hurt performance without the high-test gas due to increased KR. The other nice side-effect of the PCM was that I was able to hit 140 on a trip I made up to Portland. Could've gone faster but...ida know...moving that fast in uncontrolled conditions gets a bit sketchy.

You were only running a 14.9 w/ all those other mods? U must be high altitude, I was running 14.6's stock. I think PIR and Woodburn in Oregon are around 500'.

Not high altitude, but high temperatures (90's). And apparently a lot of knock retard. See, I did have that 3.4" pulley on there but was still running crappy 91 octane MTBE-laden California gas. I think that the increased boost may have actually resulted in excessive KR, making my car slower than stock...Sears Point also has a reputation for being a "slow" track, though I don't know if that's actually deserved. With my current performance level, I actually have my doubts about that now.

It takes the right mods, the right track, and the right weather to get a GTP into the 13's. Some people have success w/ a pulley, intake and exhaust. Others have to work much harder to see those times. Sometimes it has a lot to do w/ the driver too.

I don't doubt that with a good traction-full launch I'd be in the 13's. Certainly not 13.4, that's a bit beyond what I've done. The '96 Formula starts out with 285 hp, and plenty more torque than the GTP, and weighs only a little more, so of course it will take considerable mods to beat it in the 1/4.
