Did you try E-Mailing K&N?

But it would probably be cheapest just to build one.

yea building it does look pretty wierd (looks like a box of tin foil thrown together), you could just leave it an open cone

I did a little test when I first installed a K&N setup and here is what I found with a thermometer inside the heat shield and the car ideling with the hood closed the temp. was 10deg above ambiant temp.(92deg)compared to 83outside,when driving the temps were even ,so the heat shield does do its job and seals fairly well to the hood ,I know a lot of people think the K&N FIPK is overpriced but consider the R&D ,the dyno testing of each setup and the tube itself is made of a heat resitant polycarbonate,I run the setup on each of my cars& trucks and I'm quite satisfied with the look and performance.Chico(pops)http://www.knfilters.com/contact.htm

I typed that number in on K&N product search, but didn't get anything for the box.

To be honest I do'nt think you'll find any difference in performance between the two so I think it all comes down to which look you prefer.

No, it's not any better. They cost more and look nicer.

I've been through 5 intake setups.
I wish I didn't just sell my FWI, since the temps stayed way down. Now my HAI is running temps out the roof. So I have to build a box.
I like the HAI, or like the FIPK look cause it fills that huge area on that side of the engine. The FWI left soo much room, it looked like a nice turbo could fit in there, so I had to eliminate the urge to go turbo for now, and go back to HAI. *Build box time*
