where did you get them, were they good quality, if you got them from Ebay, was it an individual or a company, and are they worth a crap?
I'm getting ready to order some new ones and am kinda torn over the slightly cheaper ones off of ebay or the more expensive ones off of say PFYC or other sites?
Thanks for the help!!!

I bought Powerslot slotted rotors. So far, they are AWESOME! A little more expensive than OEM replacements, but not by much. I couldnt be happier with the brakes I bought.

<---- ebay. I've had them too long to remeber who I got them from. I actually went with the cheapest pair I could find. No problems at all and this is something that I would highly suggest doing. You get more of a brake pedal, you don't have to stand on it as much to slow it down.

yeah, I know the advantages, and I'm long overdue for drilled/clotted brakes, just am unsure what one to get, so I need some opinions. I thank everyone that has chimed in so far. does anybody here have an upgrade kit on their cars? if so, how do you like it?

so for those of you that bought off ebay, did you get them from this place? they seem pretty reputable and have high feedback, so this is what I was thinking about getting http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pontiac-G...1QQcmdZViewItem

I got the 12" drilled/slotted from ebay seller Gripforce. I've also got the F-body calipers. Stops amazing. And there is no drilling required for the F-Body brakes. You use the F-body calipers and caliper brackets. The bolts that attach the F-body brackets to the F-body hubs are smaller than the GP, so you just use a small bushing in the GP hub, makes the F-body bolts fit perfectly. Some people get the F-body brackets drilled/tapped to fit the GP bolts, but I think the bushing method was much quicker.

Also note: All rotors (whatever coating) will get rust on the part of the rotor the pad rubs on if the car sits for a while. The pads are constantly grinding down that portion of the rotor, so no coating will ever protect it. But after a couple miles of driving, any rust on that part will be removed by the pads.
But the zinc coating on my Gripforce rotors has held up great everywhere else, no rust on any other part of the rotor.

Monte Carlo's have 12" brakes from the factory
If it were me though, I would go with F-body brakes.

Monte Carlos had 12" brakes. You can use the Monte Carlo brackets with your factory calipers to install 12" rotors. If you want to upgrade to F-body standards you will need brackets and calipers from an f-body with the appropriate pads. With those parts, and a tiny bit of fabrication you can buy the 12" rotors that are made to fit the Monte Carlo, or aftermarket rotors that fit your application and have dual piston aluminum calipers that are superior to the GP calipers.

The weight claim is misleading though. Your rotor weight is what is important with stopping. The more rotating mass you have on an axle (bigger/heavier rims, bigger/heavier rotors, etc), the longer it takes to stop. Heavier calipers won't effect your stopping distance, just your speed. I'm sure the larger pads and stuff outweigh the heavier rotors...but the the weight savings on the calipers won't help you stop quicker.

Depends, I think I ordered from same place, don't remember, mine got screwed up in the process because when the place did there coating or what not they messed it up and had to wait on new ones before they shipped them out. Good Luck. When mine came, the UPS driver waddled to my drive way, so I ran down and grabbed the heavy thing from him, thought he was gonna pass out.

True, it will improve handling too. Just as much as removing 12 pounds from anywhere else in the car -fiberglass hood -removing spare tire -etc etc. I was under the impression he was saying that removing 12pounds from the brakes was helping it stop better.

No, the reduced caliper weight is different than other weight reduction you mentioned. It is unsprung weight. It has a much more direct impact on handling. Reducing unsprung weight makes the suspension more responsive. The larger rotors increase the unsprung weight, the aluminum calipers reduce it. No, the lighter calipers won't improve stopping distance. But going to 12" rotors improve stopping distance (better leverage), going to F-body brakes improves it, and the lighter weight calipers keep the handling from suffering from the heavier rotors. my only two cents are pad wear. Rotors with perforations will reduce the life of the pad faster then rotors without. Also "drilled" is a misnomer. They are not drilled. The holes are part of the fabrication process. Drilling would induce cracking of the rotor. I would also buy slotted only as they are the best of both worlds.

Yup, ours are true drilled slots. Drilled on a CNC machine.
I think I heard once that it was either Porsche or Ferarri that has the only rotors that are cast w/holes.
