why did GM take out the tire pressure monitor in the 2001 model year grand prix gt??????

Cost cutting is why. If it makes you feel any better I don't have a tire pressure monitor on my 98 GTP. Plus I don't think it ever really worked very effectively. If your not familiar with how the system worked it used the ABS sensor to check wheel speed. When one tire was off significantly from the other three it would trip the tire pressure light. It was a kinda hokey system if you ask me.

Herc, would my '02 have this?

I ask becuase I had a nail in my tire (slow leak) and I never had any lights go off.

I'm not sure what years had it. But the ones that do it's an idiot light on the dash.
