have any of you ever installed a system and still used your facotry stereo. I never even knew you could use your factory stereo which is why i never got a system. I like the HUD and wanted it to stay fully functional so i talked to a guy at Best Buy, and they have this this called a line out converter that you just either hook into the back of the CD player or tap it into one of your six by nines... just wondered if anyone has done this or even installed a system without changing CD players. I'm getting ready to do this to my car ...

Just use a line-out converter to tap into the 6X9, this gives you the RCA outputs you need to run the amp.... then run your power cables, and a remote cable for the amp

I ran it off the accessories on the ignition, you'll see the wire in the back of the deck when you pull it out, take a multi meter and test to see witch wire is hot when the ignition is on

You can use any wire that is hot with the ignition and off with the ignition,

1000W, run 4 guage, i run 4 guage on everything incase of future upgrades and so on, that way you only hve to run once and not run thicker guage later...

remove the trim by CAREFULLY pulling it off, held on by snaps, then i belive there is four screws on the side of the HU holding it in, uncrew that and comes right out

You also can put a switch on the remote line anywhere near your driver seat incase you want to instantly turn your sub on or off. I installed a switch in three cars because sometimes that bass gets annoying.

yes i have done so and it sounds great w/ the bose system. though the hud is disabled and the steariung wheel controlles are also disabled (though for mee SQ is more important than the controlles)but the wireing harness for tghe year grand prix you have hook it up per instructions and in the smaller black plug(i beleive there are 4 wires) the blue striped (or compleatly blue wire) is the remote wire for the bose amp. splice it in to the decks 12+ remote wire and you can use a new deck with the bose amp and bose speakers (i installed new 6.5 components up front, and 6X9 component speakers in the back). it sounds great
