No, the 3.8L heads are cast iron. Sounds like whoever you talked to doesn't know their GM engines that well. Did you stress to them that it's a 3.8 Grand Prix, and not a 3.1? The 3.1's are aluminum. Besides, most of the anti-seize lubricants out there don't hold up to that kind of heat, anyway.

Changed the plugs and took off the engine brackets. It wasnt too hard. Only took about an hour and I only screwed up 2 knuckles. Both my thumbs. I could have done it quicer if it wasnt for that damn black holes that swallowed my tools twice. One trying to get the back engine bracket off and the other fell in behind the grill. Thanks for the advice everyone!!!

If ever in doubt, just take a magnet to it. If it sticks, you've got iron.

the 3.8 has been around for quite some time and yes it's all cast iron , it's a buik design originally a odd fire motor, redisigned in the 80's the same basic motor as the grnd national's that's why you can get such good perfomance out of a modded gp.

Ive read more than a few times that the multiprong plugs like splitfires etc are BAD for Mr Supercharger. Lots of KR.

the multi-prong plugs are a waste. the extra prongs allow for "hot spots" which causes knock which causes KR which slows you down which means you can't put the hammer down now that it's spring.

NGK's or AC's. Everything else is a gimmick.

The Iridiums a good choice. The smaller electrode seems to keep down the KR.

BY the way, If the heads are iron why doesn't anybody come up with aluminum heads to save weight
and Increase HP?

$$$$$$

sheesh aftermarket aluminum heads for a SBC are over a grand. With our aftermarket performance options I'd hate to see what they would charge for some aluminum heads.

By installing aluminum heads you'd be hurting the "bulletproof-ness" of the 3.8. Iron heads are considered better in my opinion; no head gasket failures. Besides, aluminum heads are out of sight when it comes to price.

It'd be nice if there were some aluminum heads but as has been previously noted, they would probably be super expensive. It would be good to have aluminum to help dissipate some of that heat a little better.
