Subject: Pontiac Grand Prix End of Production
Over its 45-year history, the Grand Prix has been a key product leader and innovator for Pontiac, from its launch in 1962 to its dominance of NASCAR in the '80s and '90s. Through it all, Grand Prix has consistently been one of the top-selling Pontiac models, peaking at more than 170,000 units in 2000.
However, due to shifts in consumer demand which have led Pontiac to make strategic changes in its future product portfolio to more rear-wheel drive vehicles, it has been decided to cease production of the Grand Prix as of November 2007. This move will also allow GM's Oshawa Assembly Facility to continue with its planned consolidation of operations in preparation for future products.
As a result, we want to ensure that dealers have sufficient Grand Prix inventory to support sales through the balance of this year and into early 2008. Starting with the July consensus cycle, we have three (3) consensus cycles remaining for Grand Prix. We encourage you to consense to additional vehicles in this period to support your sales needs. In support of your efforts, we will keep Grand Prix competitive throughout the 2008 model year.
As you know, the Pontiac lineup remains solid with sporty products that reinforce our positioning of progressive design and modern performance.
Thank you for your continued support.
Good Selling,
Jim Bunnell
