my new wheels arrived yesterday afternoon and they looked gorgeous...aand I set out this morning to do a dry fit. All my measurements seemed dead on...outside lip at the same location as the present wheels...inside close to the strut tower but still clearance...about as much caliper clearance as my PT Cruiser. THEN I tightened the lugs down and the back of the bloody spoke is flat against the caliper bracket that holds the rotor on. AARRGHH!!! Now I get to pay return shipping and restocking fee!! hot damn! I guess I knew the risk when I ordered them and this one has bitten me square in the azz. Nothing like one little thing to send you all the way back to square one.

Damn bro no luck. Well don't get to down about it. Sometimes it just doesn't fit... Good luck with everything I was really hoping it would have worked out for ya!

How much space do you need? Grind the bracket down a bit.

I wasnt crazy about the idea of grinding the brackets since that piece of metal is not that thick to begin with...plus we arent talking about a little scrape...when I tightened the lugs down, the wheel was frozen so I can be 100% certain the lug was bottomed or not. If I wound up needing 1/8 to 3/16 of clearance thats a lot of metal to take off the bracket that holding your front brake caliper in place. If I had tightened the wheel down and could turn it with it barely grazing the bracket then I would have attempted that but I dont think I this is case with this wheel. Thanks for the input but if you had seen it I think you would agree.

The way you describe it, I'm sure I would agree. I'm not insulting you, you've been around this stuff longer than me, there are just some things that are overlooked when you're all pissed off about stuff not fitting, bolts you cant get to, etc.

Before sending the stuff away, have you thought about spacers? Something like hardend stainless or hardend aluminum or something...I dunno. I'm sure those spacers would be ceaper than shipping and restocking, not to mention the cost of another set of new rims.

Ihad the same problem with my 65 marlin I did a disc brake conversion and when I put the wheels back on they were jammed solid against the bracket ,I ended up getting wheel spacers from Summit they worked ok but I do'nt know if I would use them on a DD .

please expand: why wouldnt you want to use the spacers on a DD? Do they cause some kind of reliability issue? Have the spacers been known to fail? Do you reduce the amount of threading the lugnuts can grab onto that much? How do you get longer lugs to counter that issue? Wouldnt the correct amount of torque kill that concern?

wheel spacers are fine on a dd if you get the correct type of spacer, my friend has spacers on his s10 so his 22's fight right
