So how do you replace this? stupid question from a guy like me... but is it just a friction fit? pull the old out, push the new in and you're done?

In the second picture you'll see the modulater, off to the left at about 10 o'clock there is a nut. Remove the nut, remove the heat shield, then remove the bolt. The bolt is one of those double sided kind with a fixed nut in the middle, not really sure that bolt is called. Forgot to mention the bolt holds a retaing clip thing in place and the retaining clip thing holds the modulator in place.

No word yet. The adjustment screw is on the part that is sticking out of the trans with the vac line attached to it.

So I put it in and test drove it last night and drove it to work today. It does shift a little harder, as in the feeling when shifting.

Maybe Chico can shed some more info on this?

I would imagine it's three full turns... that seems right

Ok drove home and it is definately firmer and I like it. The stock one I had probably needed replacement. The Haynes manual reccomended that modulator be checked and or replaced if the trans starts to slip, said something like that. Well that new one is in and it hasn't slipped yet. Used to happen at least once a day.

You will need to adjust it to suite yourself I would try 2full turns and try your shift firmness, every car will react a little differently so final adjustment is in your hands.Chico(Pops)

Thanks for this tip Chico, it appears to have helped me alot.

In the book it says this thing assists the trans in shifting. How does it assist it?
