Well I have 2 12" Alpine Type R's and they are way beyond the amount of bass im even comfortable with now...I really wish I would have bought a 10" Type R and fed it less wattage...right now i have 3 Alpine amps (2 400w Mono Alpine Class D and 1 4 channel alpine amp) and 2 12" Alpine Type R woofers in a ported box and it tears apart my car if cranked i mean it literally seems as if my trunk lid is going to come off and back bumper is gonna come off, my windows flex and i feel sorry for anyone in the surrounding block that has to put up with it. I regret getting that much now knowing that i coulda put it into performance..but oh well i guess whatever suits u best, i wouldnt go over 2...it may be "cocky" to get 3 but in terms of actually making ur setup louder it wont help much, theres a point where more subs wont help u, its about wattage...to increase SPL and DB's you must gain wattage from powerful amps not from woofers lol. To me I know when someone has a good car audio system by hearing it, not looking at it...most people are entertained by the body panel flexxing and window flexing and dont even wanna see the subs cuz there so ammused by what it can do lol. But of course watch out for your hearing, i thk im starting to lose some of mine and now adays im out of the Bass Stage so i sometimes even have my woofers off lol. Good luck to ya.

MY buddy has 4 12", but I don't have pics. They are basically in a custom box. Two on each side near the wheel wells facing towards the center. Then the big amp mounted closes to the rear. Has a mirror and neons in it. Looks like 6 subs when looking through the rear seat pass thru cause of the reflection of the mirror.

I installed one alpine type R in a slot ported and chambered box and this blows away a lot of 2 12's set ups. Alot has to do with the box you get. I am running a 800w Alpine amp and its sounds crazy. One is perfect and Two alpine type R's is over doing it!

go with 2 15 inch kicker L7 solobaric 15in L7 now your job is to find an amp(s) that can put 1000 watts RMS to each sub

It is posts like this that reinforce why I tell my kids to get into medical school specifically, ears. The hearing aide business will be BOOMing in a few years. Before you all ask, I come from a family of musicians. We value our hearing. I wear ear plugs at concerts & when I mow the grass and can always hear the person speaking next to me when I do wear my MP3 player at the gym.

Good point made 72chevman. That makes me wanna go out in my trunk and unplug my woofers right now. I've considered selling em but this post really has made me realised that there really bad for the ears and y should i have to put up with such sound?
1. Lose hearing 2. Waste Money 3. Add more weight to veichle 4. Increase risk of theft to vehicle 5. Disturb others
Thats just 5 great reasons to lose em and im sure theres plenty more.

Theft is huge here lately. Mostly drug addicts. They are stealing XM and GPS recievers off dashes, video screens in headrests or ceilings, sub boxes, amps CDs anything you can think of. And of course, they smash the windows and destroy everything to get what they want. Face it, if they get caught, they get a slap on the wrist and are home in an hour. You will spend weeks getting your car back together and spend $250+ of your own money. My philosiphy is stock head unit and upgraded speakers, maybe an under the seat sub just to add a little bass to Jazz or "get in the mood" music.

2 12" powerbass i wat to say their the M series their powered by a "so-so" power acustic 1000 watt amp.
i also have a crappy kenwood headunit that doset have any sub controlls, im about to upgrade to one with sub controlls, because the headunit can make all the diffrence in the world when it comes to the loudness of your system and fine tuning it for best SQ
