hey guys im trying to buy my first car. I found a 97 grand prix gtp 4dr for 2600. BUT it has 165k miles on it. I wouldnt drive it that much, to work and school pretty much. Its in good shape and the guy has taken good care of it. For my first car, do you think this would be a good idea? thanks

Depends how well taken care of it he has done. I know that year has a few concerns. I would say oil leaks the most. See if he has changed any gaskets for it yet. I think you could get that price lower.

As for the issues of the 97s more then likely those quirks have been worked out by previous owners. Remember 97s are now 10 years old. Half way to being considered classics for registration purposes.
