whenever i turn left, i hear a rubbing noise coming from the left front tire... i dont have to turn the wheel very far before i hear it, and the faster im going the louder it is... its not there when i turn right... anyone know what this may be? the sound seems to sound like metal on metal... its not a squecky noise, or high pitched, more like a bobby pin rubbing on metal sound if that helps lol... anyways, anyone ever experienced this or know what it could be? thanks alot i appreciate it!

Wheel bearing howl more when in a turn. Iirc louder to the left usually is the left bearing and louder to the right is the right bearing.

By the way how many miles on the car? If over 70k it's time to start thinking about new bearings anyways. They are non greasable and start to fail about that point. I recommend doing them both at the same time if you have the cash because once one has failed it's only a matter of time for the otherside to fail.

the car has 130,000 miles on it, so the way your talking, ill bet your right... about how much is it just for parts? also, how hard of a job is this? i replaced the bearings on a ford tempo i used to have... i think it was around 50 bucks, and very simple, but im betting this is a little bit different... thanks

I did the job in WAY less than 6 hours, but you do need torque wrenches, which can be rented/borrowed from most parts stores. The hubs are gonna be expensive for both, or you can replace them one at a time. Hopefully your buddy will let you work on it with him.

My front left hub failed functionaly 10 days before I changed it. It did howl, however I drove it daily and checked daily if the wheel was loose and nothing! I got my bearings with Shipping for less then 200.
