Today I'm sitting in the parking lot at school eating my tastey sub and listening to the radio. After 15 mins I decided to turn the car on and what happens? CHUG, CHUG, CHUG. I was not pleased with this sound. THE RADIO WAS ONLY ON FOR 15 BLOODY MINUTES AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD!!! So I'm gonna try cleaning the terminals, but I think the battery is shot. Hoping its not the altinator. Anyone else have a suggestion as to what my problem could be?

I have had that happen in more than one vehicle and seen it happen to others. In my GTP though I usually take the key out of the ignition and listen to the radio then untill it automatically shuts off after 15 min or so. After seeing what happens when leaving it on in the Accessory position and the car will not start, I have not let that happen again. I am not sure if there is a problem with the battery or not or how long it can produce power for and then be able to start up the vehicle. It also could depend on the type of battery and how much juice your system pulls from it.

Well maybe before you buy, the folks you buy the battery from can give you some insight or one of the other guys from the site can give some info. I am not quite sure of an exact answer.

Yeah, sounds like the battery is going out. How old is it?
Do you have a volt meter? With the car running, check the voltage coming off the battery, should be around 13.8v or so.

I'm not sure the brand or the age of the battery. I'm guessing it the original battery, so its 6 years old. About time for a new battery.

OK I'm not sure how many times I am going to say this on this website before someone actually does this. People need to buy an Optima battery. The Red Top which is the middle grade one is about 100 bucks at Sam's and it will last forever.

I have the Red Top in my car, along with a 12" sub. Me and my friends were just hangin out one night and I had my system BLARING for a good 45 minutes, like my car was shaking. Got back in it, turned the key, started right up. I'm telling you if you don't want any more battery problems by a friggin Optima...just my 2 cents..

Sorry forgot to throw in the link to the website. Just check it out guys..

I think that an optima battery may be a bit over kill for what I really need. I have no intention of serenading the neighborhood with my music nor do I plan on using my battery extensively by itself. Just need it to let me listen to the radio and start the car.
