My dealer says GM recommends that every 30,000 I should perform the following mantenance:

Clean Fuel Injectors, Replace fuel filter, Replace PCV valve and air filter, Front wheel alignment, and Automatic transmission flush.

And then at 40,000, they say to flush the brake system and power steering system.

I understand the fuel filter and pcv valve, but is it really necessary to do the Auto transmission flush, front end alignment, and flush the brake and power steering systems?

They want $409.95 to do the 30,000 stuff, and then another $159.95 to do the 40,000 stuff.

I'm around 35,000 now and am thinking about knocking all this stuff out at once. I'm definately not having the dealer do all this stuff (find someone cheaper), but do you think all this is necessary?

Which ones of these do you think I should do?

I would do the filters and the transmission fluid. Though these are things you can do yourself. (I did)

As for the alignment, unless your tires are wearing unevenly, I don't think its necessary.

cheers

i don't know if this applys to the grand prix but it and the regal were very simular and before i sold it i read that you have to change?/refill? the supercharger oil every 30,000 miles. Like i said this may not apply on the grand prix. Just might help. crazy

If you are going to change your tranny fluid i would go ahead and ad a tranny cooler there really easy to install.

a tranny cooler? Why do I need that?

When should I change the supercharger oil? Should I have the dealer do it or firestone.

Doing it myself in Cleveland in January just ain't happening :-)

A tranny cooler I don't think it is really needed. You can do a search on www.clubgp.com about that stuff. Changing the supercharger oil is really easy. You can do that with in about 15 min or so. Remove the drain on the snout with an allen key and use a turkey baster to remove the oil. Refill with super charger oil from the dealer up to the threads. It is easy. I found a thread some where with pics. It I come across it I will post again.

i dunno, the alignment wouldnt hurt, firestone i think does it for like 40 or 50 bux, sears and ntb do it for like 60, its a good idea too, especially cuz ive heard before that the rear camber and toe can be knocked out real easily, even if u watch where u drive.

I think it is 30,000, check your owners manuel to make sure because that is on a regal. But they are very simular so it might be the same, check it first. You can do it by yourself if you are the person that can change oil just like damojo said. kooky

I would probably do the items listed for maintenance, especially the PCV, filters, and trans flush. The best way to change trans fluid is to have it flushed with a machine, and then drop the pan, check for debris, and change the filter. Synthetic fluid is also a plus, but not necessary.

Had to bump this to the top. I'm almost at 30k miles and need to know what to do.

I can change the oil, PCV, filters, etc on my own. I'll probably take it to a shop to get the tranny flushed and filled with synthetic.

I think the alignment is BS.

How do you clean your fuel injectors though? I've never done that.

Are there any other things I should do at 30k miles? I was half thinking about changing my OEM struts...

DIY Injector cleaning

As for the alignment it doesn't hurt to ensure everything is still aligned tires can cost a pretty penny because your alignment is out slightly.

His disclaimer at the end is enough to discourage me. Maybe I'll have them clean my injectors when they flush the tranny.

Or you can go to a shop and have them clean the injectors. Good idea.
