Hey guys, i just have to ask, i have a fairly large stereo in my gtp, and being that im a certified 12 volt tech i KNOW i need a cap, however moneys not allowing right now but my question to everyone here is anyone else with stereos in there gtps experiencing REALLY bad dimming? or is my battery cooked lol like when i hit a good note my headlights go almost off and then come on which is partially understandable cuz as i said its pretty heavy duty stereo but i had the same system in my winter car and it was fine-minimal dimming so does anyone else have this problem?

It's your alt. You need a 160amp. Stock is 110.

SORRY! Where was my head???

No, the charging system is adequate when it comes to stock, but like in ANY car, you will have to upgrade the bat and alt, and if your dimming is THAT bad, add another bat in the trunk, you will not see any better performance with just a cap....

i think if your lights dim that bad cap along will not help.
How many wats is your amp???
You probebly gona have to get 175 to 200 amp alt. and second battery for your light to stop diming complitly.
I hade 2 amps, 1 for sub and other one for speakers and they dimed my lights pritty good.
Then I instoled 2 2farad cap. didnt do anything!!! Hade to get 200amp alt. and second battery. Worked wary well.
But like you said avry one got ther on opinion .

yeah, and if you are certified, then you would know what would cause this... not to mention if you think it shouldnt happen, check for corrotion on the battery, or even where the wires clamp into the battery terminal... and more then likely, upgrade the ground wire from the battery to the body... i've done alot of high end/show systems, some requiring 0 guage wire to be run through the car and never ran into this problem... just make sure you have a TIGHT ground at the battery and the distrabution block... and a higher amp upgrade to the altinator and a yellow top battery will give you all the power you need

all i know is if you dont get a new alt or a cap you will fry your alt i have already been threw two alts and it would have been cheeper to get a cap I never liked the bat in the trunk takes up more room and dose not look as good. also a red top bat might help but they are alot of $$$. I would go with a cap maby a cheep on untel you get some mony than sell it on ebay or just have two in the trunk.
