I ordered the KYB struts on PFYC and I just want to make sure I have all the parts I need. However when I had Monroe look at my struts they told me had to replace the stabilizer links because of how they have to be taken off. Is this true, or they counting on me spending extra money?

You will need to replace the mounts also. I tried to save money by not replacing mine. The car was back in the shop a month later because my new struts broke throught the old mounts and were banging on the underside of the hood.

Don't know about a stabilizer link, I didn't replace mine.

I think they are referring to the part of the roll bar that attaches to your strut, no i have never replaced those it just unbolts nothing is damaged in the process that owuld warrant a replacement. however it is good to replace the strut mounts. Tire rack.com has htem.

The part I'm referring to is a thin metal bar that attaches to the back of the rear struts. If I could attach a pic from techline I would show you what it is.

If it is the link that bolts from the middle of the strut and goes to the sway bar you shouldnt need to replace it unless somehow it went bad. otherwise Like zachd said, it just unbolts and bolts back to the new one. Sounds like they are fishing for money. I just replaced my struts and at 60k those links were fine. YMMV
