I just bought my 01 GTP Special Edition a week a go, and love it so far. I took it to the dealer to have them put on a smaller SC pulley as the have the tools and the time to install it. The told me someone had already tried to pull the pully and damaged the SC shaft, if they try to pull the pulley and it breaks the shaft I would need a new SC. My question is can I replace the Nose drive and eliminate the shaft problem all together?. Any advise would be helpful.

1) I'd have a hard time believing the dealer would even want to swap pullies for you. Modding is generally something the dealers stay away from.

2) Yes, you can replace just the snout.

Yeah, I have to go with Bobby on this one. Did you know a couple years back Mitsubishi started voiding warranties just for taking your Evo to the track.

A couple of the vendors will rent you a tool for your pulley swap.

I work at a GM dealership as a mechanic. I will tell you this. If it is under warranty and you want aftermarket performance parts put on. we are willing to do it, but most of the time your warranty will be black flagged. For instance. I a have a really great customer that comes in with an 06 Z06 corvette nice, Fast car. He likes to play with the car. What i mean is he likes to see how fast he can get the car to go. he has gone 196mph before and we know it is true because they have have a problem with the rear cv boots letting go at 180mph. factory GM warrenty will cover that because GM makes a car that they say that go close to 200mph. He put an intake, headers, and full exhaust on and warrenty will still cover it. then he asked if we could put a cam in the car, we said sure but warrenty is done after that due to modifying anything inside to motor.
