Owner/Vehicle Profile Help Pages

Help is available in the following areas:

Registering for an Account

You will need to register for a username and password if you want to add your profile to Grand Prix Net. To apply for an account:

  1. Click on "Login" button at the bottom of this page. You will now see the main login page with blanks for your username and password. Do not fill out these blanks yet.
  2. Click on the "Register for an Account" button. You will now see the account registration page. You will need to fill out the form which includes your first and last names as well as your email address.
  3. Click on the "Submit Information" button. In order to verify that your e-mail address is valid, your password will be automatically generated and sent to you at the e-mail address you enter, so make sure you enter it correctly. Please note that you will NOT be able to change your basic information, so please take care to enter everything correctly and make sure you keep your password, which cannot be changed either.
The system will reply with a success message. Your password will immediately be sent to you. You will now need to retrieve your mail and get your password. You should save this message, as you will need your password whenever you need to make changes to your profile or when you want to search the rest of the profiles.

Logging in to the System

Once you have registered for an account and received your password via email, you may login to the system. Note: you do not need to log in to search the database. You will only need to log in to add, change, or delete your address.

  1. Click on "Login" at the bottom of this page. You will now see the main login page with blanks for your username and password.
  2. Enter your username and password in the blanks. Note that both of the entries are case sensitive!
  3. If you would like to activate AutoLogin, check the box. Autologin will remember your usename and password so you do not need to enter them at login.
  4. Click on the "Logon to the System" button. If successful, you will see the account management screen.

About the AutoLogin Feature

On the login screen you will see a checkbox with "Enable AutoLogin" written next to it. This is a nice feature to be able to use, because it only forces you to log in the first time. Thereafter, your username, password, and real name will be sent by your browser to Grand Prix Net (using cookies, which are harmless) and will automatically log you in without you having to remember your password.
NOTE: This does not mean you should discard the e-mail containing your password, you may need it again.
If you log in from different locations, you will need to enable AutoLogin for each location you normally use. This is because the cookies file is stored locally on each computer you use and needs to be written for each location individually. Grand Prix Net only has access to the part of the cookie file that it writes and thus no safety issues are involved. If you feel uncomfortable with using cookies, you will simply have to log in each time you want to search, browse, or modify an entry.

Browsing the Profiles

Profiles can be browsed from beginning to end very simply by doing a search on the profiles and leaving all fields blank. By default, the profiles will be sorted by model. If you wish to sort by some other field, select the field which you would like to sort by in the selection list at the bottom of the search form.

Searching the Profiles

You will need to log into Grand Prix Net in order to search the database.

  1. Once logged in, click "Search the Profiles"
  2. Enter the criteria you are looking for and press enter. If you wish to view all profiles, do not fill in any fields. Case does not matter unless you click the checkbox next to "Case Sensitive Match".

Grand Prix Net will return a list of all matched records. No wildcards are necessary to get partial matches.

If you want to see all of the entries, simply leave all of the fields in the search form empty and run the search. The search form is essentially a filter. The search engine assembles a list of all records, then filters out records according to what you specify in the search form, and finally sorts the remaining records according to your selection. If you leave an entry blank, the system will ignore it when filtering. If you specify part of a name, for example "Go," all names with "go" anywhere in them will be returned. If you want to see all names that start with "S," just type a capital "S" in the field and make sure to click on the "Case Sensitive?" checkbox; otherwise you will get all names that have an "s" anywhere in them.
