- Problem Abstract: Several unrelated problems
- Reported By: Charles Mumford (cmumford@netzero.net)
- Year: 1998
- Model: GTP
- Mileage: 10,000
- Applicable Options: option group 1SH
- Solution: First I had to have the brakes worked on; within a month of vehicle delivery the front passenger side was squealing and grinding. The dealer turned the rotor and adjusted braking. Also, the single disc CD player was scratching discs, so the dealer replaced it. The analogue fuel guage suddenly decided to stop corresponding with the digital guage one day; the analogue guage is off by as much as half a tank (9 gallons) sometimes. At least the DIC guage (the digital guage) is correct. Finally and most annoyingly, there is a vibration/rattle from the dash that is quite loud at freeway speeds or on rough roads. The dealer replaced the HUD and a pillar clip to no avail. I have had this car for 5 months this week, and have had it to the dealer 9 times. On 2/9/99, I am returning to Shaver Pontiac in Thouasand Oaks, California one last time. If the rattle and fuel guage problems are not corrected with that visit, I will contact the zone manager and Pontiac directly. Other than these annoying but non-serious problems, it's a FABULOUS car.
- Cost: warranty
- Other: The folks at the dealership are friendly and courteous, but I want the problems FIXED!!
