Semi-metallics?
Ceramics are preferred.

When I put my ceramic pads on, I didn't use lube and it is completely quiet.

I wonder if it's the pads not the lube.

idk but it seems to only make the sound when its dry and really cold out....i no i dont have ceramics i thought u should only put ceramics on if u have new rotors? also sometimes it'll make like a deep (i dont wanna say grinding) but something along those lines of a sound...

It's the pads.
Semi-metallics are a hard pad. It's almost like having a couple of stones for brake pads.

Yes.

You shouldn't be doing anything to your rotors, ever. Only when they get warped or worn down from age and use, and then I would really recommend just replacing them, especially since the stock ones are really cheap.

Did your brake pads come with shims on the back, like the ones shown here? (scroll down)

I thought it was funny, Corey.

You can just throw regular grease on the backs of the pads. I use synthetic grease and it works fine. I had cheap ebay ceramics that squealed once, then just replaced them to shut em up.
